REFORMER
Reformers incorporate springs, pulleys and straps to increase support (making the exercises easier) or increase resistance (making them more challenging).
You have two types of Reformer class to choose from.
Reformer uses all of the Pilates principles and the traditional exercises to create a mindful, balanced workout at a faster, flowing pace with more advanced moves. Suitable for those with Reformer experience.
Fundamental Reformer is the class you want if you are wondering where to start with Reformer. It is a slower based Reformer class to help mobilise, stretch and strengthen the entire body. Using the resistance of the Reformer you will elevate your flexibility, mobility and strength.
YOGA
Here at OJS we have a variety of great yoga teachers, delivering a mix of yoga styles including yin, hatha and vinyasa.
Along with group classes our teachers also offer private 1-to-1 sessions. Maybe you are new to yoga, nervous about group environments or you want specific instructions and focus to be on you. A 1-to-1 session might just be what you are after!
TRX TRAINING
The TRX® builds serious strength (the kind that’s very hard to replicate with regular free-weights) as well as endurance, stamina, balance, joint and muscular stability.
New to the Old Joinery, the TRX® Move classes are kept small, to ensure you receive lots of 1:1 attention. You do not need any previous experience with the TRX® to join – in fact, this class is deliberately targeted to teach you how to use the TRX®, perform movements using correct form and posture and to challenge your body and fitness.
PILATES
Pilates offers a multitude of benefits for both men and women, by enhancing core strength, relieving low back pain, and improving balance. Its focus on body alignment promotes better posture, allowing for easier sitting and standing. Additionally, Pilates increases flexibility and enhances balance and coordination, which is essential for everyday movement and athletes looking to optimise performance and reduce the risk of injuries. Embrace Pilates to strengthen your body and elevate your physical potential!
PERSONAL TRAINING
Personal Training is just that – physical training personal to you. Whatever your goals are personal trainers will assist. Whether it is help improving your strength, flexibility, and mobility, help improving cardiovascular health, weight management, sports specific training or just motivation to help you move a little more in your day/week.
GROUP PT
Group personal training merges personalized coaching with the motivation of a supportive community. Participants benefit from tailored workouts that meet individual goals while enjoying the energy and encouragement of others. This format enhances accountability, making it easier to stay committed and challenge personal limits. With certified trainers ensuring proper technique and safety, group sessions effectively build strength, improve endurance, and make workouts enjoyable, keeping you engaged and motivated on your fitness journey.

MORE THAN A SPACE
The studio was originally part of an 80-year-old wood joinery factory. There is history down in the old factory flooring and history up in the rafters.
THE TIN SHED
A separate beautiful communal space looking over Essex's stunning country fields. A chilled space to eat and drink after your hard work in the studio.
